On Thursday, October 5, 2017, the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) in Ohio observed National Hydrogen Fuel Cell day (October 8th) at all four of their Transit Centers. The event was hosted onboard one of SARTA’s Zero-Emission Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses, enabling riders and attendees to learn more about this state-of-the-art technology first hand.
SARTA kicked off the event at their Phyllis Beyers Alliance Transit Center, and at 9:30 AM WHBC’s Gary Rivers began his live broadcast aboard the bus. His show was broadcast while the bus traveled to SARTA’s Belden Village Transit Center, where he concluded his show. From there, the bus headed to the Massillon Transit Center and concluded the day at SARTA’s Cornerstone Transit Center.
During the October 5th observance of National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell day, riders had the opportunity to enter into SARTA's 'Take a Selfie with the Bus' contest to win a wireless bluetooth speaker. To enter the contest, riders took a selfie with the Hydrogen Fuel Cell bus as it made its stops at all four of SARTA's Transit Centers, posted the selfie to Instagram and tag @SARTAonline and use the hashtags #fuelcellsnow, #hydrogennow and #SARTAfuelcellbus.
